Caitlyn Cantrell is a horn player currently based in Waco, Texas. In 2021 Caitlyn completed her B.Mus in Horn Performance at The Lamont School of Music at The University of Denver. Caitlyn is currently earning a Master of Music in Horn Performance and Musicology from Baylor University under the teachings of Dr. Kristy Morrell.

Caitlyn appreared as a soloist with the McLennan Community Orchestra in 2022 following her first-place finish in their solo competition. In 2026 she competed in the Midsouth Regional Horn Competition and recieved runner-up.

Caitlyn has performed in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. In the summers of 2024 and 2025, Caitlyn toured throughout Germany with the eurobrass ensemble; a twelve-person brass ensemble that embarks on a three-week tour spanning the entirety of the country.

A dedicated educator, Caitlyn serves as a Graduate Assistant at Baylor University's School of Music, where she lectures undergraduate students in core music history courses and assists with musicology faculty with various research and publishing projects. She also maintains a private horn studio, working with students across all levels of experience — work she finds deeply rewarding.

Caitlyn's scholarly interests lie at the intersection of performance practice, horn repertoire and history, and music education. Her current research, Diasporic Improvisation in a Neutral Nation: Anti-Apartheid Signification in Irène Schweizer’s Performance of Jungle Beats II, explores questions of agency, identity, and musical meaning in improvised performance. She has presented her research at regional conferences and remains an active voice in academic discourse surrounding music and performance studies.
